Your Bar & Bat Mitzvah Roadmap
Every child’s journey is different, but most families benefit from starting about 18 months ahead. Here is what each stage looks like, so you always know what comes next.
1
Hebrew Decoding & Prayer Fluency
12–18 months out
Confidence starts here. We build comfortable, accurate Hebrew reading from the Alef-Bet through the core prayers.
- Alef-Bet, vowels, and blending
- Reading fluency for core prayers
- Understanding what the prayers mean
2
Torah & Haftarah Trope and Blessings
6–12 months out
Once reading feels natural, we introduce cantillation (trope) and begin the Torah and Haftarah portions, along with the blessings.
- Trope taught step by step
- Practice tracks for home
- Blessings and the Torah service
3
Service Mastery, D’var Torah Mentoring & Rehearsal
Last 3–6 months
Now it all comes together. We guide your child in writing a personal D’var Torah, rehearse the service, and fine-tune.
- D’var Torah writing and delivery
- Full-service run-throughs over Zoom
- Nerves-calming practice and final polish
